To look at the pictures I've posted, you'd think LO had his birthday celebrations with just friends. That couldn't be further from the truth. Aunt Cat and Nanny K came for the weekend, Papa and Lah-oo popped over a couple of times, and Grams and Gramps came for the day. LO kicked off his party day with a yummy breakfast and gifts before gymnastics. We asked that his friends not bring gifts, but several of his gifts from family had the potential for great fun during his party. We wanted to open them ahead of time with family, so a pre-gym breakfast seemed the thing to do. The breakfast bar pic with Nanny K is from that breakfast. Here are some others:
| This is a poor picture, but Nanny K gave LO a red hoodie with the same back-loading garbage truck logo as his favorite shirt that she gave him in the summer. So cool! |
| Aunt Cat gave both boys capes. Batman for LO and Robin for NB. NB started running around crazily when he got his and LO soon joined in. Those pictures are a blur, but LO slowed to listen to the Batman theme on Papa's phone. |
| Toona and Gido gave the boys a seesaw that will be great fun in the playroom this winter and on the deck in the summer. We thought it would be fun at the party, but had trouble putting it together.
I don't have pictures of it, but Papa and Lah-oo gave LO a slack line. We didn't get that set up for the party either, but I know we'll have fun on it soon. It's kind of like a tight rope that you rig up between trees. LO is pretty good at staying on it, but it's really tough for me. It will be fun to master.
After the party, Grams and Gramps gave their gift to LO. LO has started to be interested in money, so he was really excited to open this treasure chest and find some coins of his very own.
| Grams chose coins with specific meanings...dates of birth for our family, states we've lived, etc. She explained the significance of some of the coins to LO. |
After rest time, LO found a package had been delivered for him from K in Augusta. Her parents had so sweetly sent a gift. The weather was warm and sunny at that point, so we gathered outside to open it.
You can't tell from here, but we're all playing a pizza party game that K loves and wanted to share with LO. It's a fun game for listening skills and counting. Thanks K and family!

| Sometimes little brothers just need their own space |
It was a really full Saturday, but it wasn't quite over yet. DH and I gave LO his gift after the pizza party game. That means there is at least one more birthday post....
