This past Saturday our little guy had a very big morning. DH and I had gone to a local dairy farm that has opened to the public for fall fun and a corn maze. DH and I have enjoyed corn mazes since early in our dating years. We prefer to go at night for a little greater challenge. We enjoyed the corn maze at this place last year on a date night and noted the activities they had for kids. We wondered if LO would enjoy the place this year and decided to take a chance. Boy were we glad we did! Before we drove to the farm, DH took a little detour to drive down the road LO calls "digger country." Now digger country on the weekend can be hit or miss. Often the diggers are not moving and LO is a little disappointed. This time, however, not only were the diggers busy, but the HUGE excavators were both very active and near the road. It was one of the best digger sightings to date. That jazzed our guy up enough to make it through the 20 minute drive to the "new playground" as we dubbed the farm.
On arrival, LO chose to visit the animals first. There were very vocal calves and turkeys, and the goats, miniature ponies, and chickens were not to be outdone.

LO fed the goats, talked to the piggies, made a pit stop with the doodle doos, but the playground was calling his name. To our delight, the owners had really beefed up the offerings for toddlers. There were large wooden play structures in the shape of ships, tractors, houses, etc each with slides and climbing options. There was a huge sand pile with a tunnel through it. LO's favorite spot though was this pit of dried corn. (The CAT digger and dump trucks didn't hurt) He could have played here all day. He seriously has not been this still since he learned to walk...so we got to take some pics.

We had to drag the little guy away when it was 30 minutes past his lunch time. Only the promise of food got him away from the corn pit.
The three of us had a fun little picnic, and LO recharged a little so he could tackle that sand pile.

After all of that fun and tough playing, it was time to head home...by way of digger country OF COURSE! By the time we got LO down for his nap, he was so very tired. He was also apparently so keyed up from his big morning that he couldn't sleep. He spent 30 minutes chattering away (undoubtedly telling Pooh and Lovie about his morning) before he finally crashed. It was a big morning for our little guy. DH and I were beat too, but managed to find a sitter and head back to enjoy the corn maze for our own grown up date Saturday night.
