Happy Year-a brothers' story

About New Year's Eve LO started trying to get NB to say "Happy New Year!"  To LO's chagrin, the exchange went something like this every single time:

LO: NB, say "Ha-"...

NB: "Ha-"

LO: ..."-Pee"

NB: "bee"

LO: "New"...

NB: "New"

LO: "Year"

NB: silence and a grin

LO: "Come on say 'Ha-"

NB: "Ha-"

LO: ..."-Pee"

NB: "bee"

LO: "New"...

NB: "New"

LO: "Year"

NB: silence and a grin

LO: "Come on, buddy say "Happy New Year."

NB just wouldn't say "year" for anything.  Even when we broke the word into the southern version of "yee-uhr", he just wouldn't say the whole thing, and he grinned instead.

I've lost count of the number of times this little exchange has occurred. Finally, as the calendar turned to March, NB, without prompting, began to say "Ha-pee Yee-uhr" and grin.  At this point, that's perfect.  We'll just all enjoy it!

  1. I guess NB finally took pity and decided to throw LO a bone! Or perhaps NB has learned at the feet of his master big brother the fine art of "don't give 'em what they want until you can get maximum return for your cooperation"! Either way or neither way, very cute! Must have been endlessly amusing for DH, DW, & NK to observe.
